LICENSES REVOKED.

HAMILTON BUS SERVICES. ACTION AGAINST TWO OWNERS TIME-TABLE NOT OBSERVED. 'Br Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday. The licenses of two motor-bus proprietors, Mr. George Soames and the Watson Bus Company, were revoked last night, at a special meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council sitting as the local motor omnibus licensing authority. In the ease of Mr. Sonnies it was stated that two of his buses were ordered off the toad to enable alterations to be made to bring them up to the requirements of the Act. The buses were taker. off, but in the meantime the time-table was not adhered to and the buses were at present operating under a system of voluntary fares.

Mr. Soames explained that he had done his best to maintain his services, but he found it too costly to carry out the requisite alterations.

Application for Transfer. In the case of the Watson Bus Company it was stated that on May 23 application was made to suspend a portion of the Hamilton East service, and although permission was not actually granted the Cook Street service was suspended for two and α-hnlf days. The company had also made replication for permission to transfer both Hα milt on East services to another concern.

The town clerk said he was doubtful if the council had power to effect the transfer. He understood that at the time the service in question was not maintained two buses were in Auckland, where the sale of four buses to the Suburban Social und Transit Club wneffected. Tbc company had int.. that it intended to allow its Frankton service to lapse after June 1.

Fewer Bout Needed. The Mayor, referring to the matter to-day ; said there had been 1C buses operating in Hamilton. There would now be 10 buses available and these would be ample for the requirements of the town and suburbs. There would be lees congestion in the traffic and the reduction in the number of buses would be advantageous in every way.
