"A DANGEROUS MAN."

ARRESTED OH VAGRAItCY CHARGE. REMANDED FOR A WEEK. Thomas Andrew Hannah <.T?) strenuously denied, at the Police Court this morning that be w»« an idle and disorderly person with insufficient lawful means of support. Evidence was pi ton or Detective White, who stated that he "saw Hannah wandering; about in Lome Street yesterday afternoon. When questioned, accused said he had not worked since March, but added that ho had tried to get work. He wa* unable, when questioned, to give the names of places where he had sought employment. Hannah said he had no money' and that be bad been sleeping out at night, "He did not seem anxious to get work, and, aa I considered him to be a dangerous man, I arrested him," said the detective. "I think it's an injustice to be arrested just becauM! I am out of work," said Hannah to the magistrate. Mr. McKean. S.M.: You have served a long sentence, and have only been out of gaol since 1926. Where have you tried to get work ?—Oh, at various places. "Thai's very vague, tell me some of the places where you have tried!—l have been to the labour bureaus and registry offices. Captain Da vies, of the Salvation Army, stated that he knew Hannah and had often assisted him. "His trouble is that he won't stay in a situation, and he's a bit of a wanderer. If be is given another chance. 1 will try and place him with his previous employer, that is, if he promise* faithfully he will stay," said Captain Davics. Chief Detective Cummings then stated that Hannah had been offered work only yesterday, but had refused the offer, with the result that another man got the job. Having been convicted on three charges of burning houses down, and serving a sentence of ten years" imprisonment. Hannah was a dangerous man to be at large and out of work. Hannah was then remanded for one week.
