RUGBY IN THE NORTH.

SOME GRIEVANCES VENTILATED.

UNFAIR TREATMENT ALLEGED. TOURING ARRANGEMENTS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent. WHANGAREI, this day. At last night's meeting of the North Auckland Rugby Union approval was recorded of the action of the Kaipara Subunion in granting permission to a number of its senior players to play for Auckland this season only, on account of the local senior competition falling through.

Whangarei Sub-union raised the question of players residing within the limits one union playing for another, a specific instance being quoted. It was stressed that no action was asked for this season, but the matter should be considered for future years. It was pointed out that there* was no rule in the union's book bearing on the question, and it was decided that a .rule be included to the effect: "That all boundaries of all sub-unions be the boundaries of the counties in which they are situated."

Reporting on the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mr. Kelly (Northern Wairoa) 'declared that minor unions were unfairly treated, the larger unions having all the say. He had asked for matches, but, in common with other of the smaller unions, North Auckland had no chance of a decent game. The best he had been able to do was to secure a game with Auckland, another with the Maori All Blacks, and a promise that if South Canterbury was not able to get to Auckland on August 6 that date would be given North Auckland. Mr. Kelly also remarked that Molloy, after playing for the League, was refused reinstatement into Rugby while he was in Whangarei, but when he went to Auckland was granted reinstatement.

It was recommended that the Northern sub-unions tour Southern sub-unions, also that matches be arranged for V#hangarei, Wairoa and Rodney, also at Ofematea

A scheme was inaugurated to raise funds for the purpose of competing in Ranfurly Shield matches, also to raise money for the general fund.
