HOME TRAINING.
ADDRESS BY MR. CUTTEN.
At a social gathering of members of the Justices of the Peace Association and their wives held last evening, and at which Mr. A. J. Stratford presided, in addition to a very fine programme of musical items, an interesting address on the work of the Welfare League was delivered by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M. Mr. Cutten dealt with the need of such societies and gave an interesting resume of the work done by them since their formation. He said the chief need of the community to-day was home training of the children, and that had been lamentably deficient. The Girls' Friendly Society, the Y.W.C.A., Y.M.C.A., Boy Scoots, Girl Guides, Young Citizens' League, and the Bortsal Institute, the latter of which was purely, a Government institution, had all performed good work, but there was still more work to be done in this direction. He urged those present to use their influence in the direction of greater supervision and home training by the parents. At the conclusion of the address Mr. Cutten wu accorded a hearty Vote of thanks,
