DIED OF STARVATION.
CATTLE PUT TO GRAZE. OWNER AWARDED DAMAGES. (By Teksraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAtfGANUI, Wednesday. Ralph H. Lowry, of Moawhango, was awarded £1550 by the Supreme Court to-day on his claim for damages against William Dixon and Eleanor Dixon, of Ruanui, and Richard Dixon, of Wanganui East, for loss of stock put to graze on defendant's farm at Ruanui. Plaintiff said he put 326 head of cattle to graze, but they were not grazed on the country on which he contracted to have them grazed. He lost 171 and the remainder depreciated by £2 a head Finally, fully half of the 326 died of starvation. A considerable amount of evidence was given for both sides," after which hie Honor said he accepted the evidence of independent witnesses, who said the cattle, when they went on the place, were in good store condition. These cattle were disgracefully treated, and it would not be fair for the Court to allow niggardly damages.
