A.R.U. AFFAIRS. THE NAME OF A PLAYER. The unusual occurrence of a team declining to give the referee the name of a player whom he desired to report for using bad language was advised by the referee at the weekly meeting of the A.R.U. last night, when Mr. H. Frost presided. On the same subject the Junior Management Board reported that it had suspended the captain of the team for one playing Saturday, and that the offending player was to appear before the board next week. The committee decided that the team be suspended if the name of the player were not revealed, but that if he were found in the meantime he should be suspended for a playing Saturday. The Manawatu Rugby Union wrote confirming August 20 as'the date of the interprovincial fixture with Auckland. The chairman referred to the death of Mr. T. H. D. Crawford, and it was decided to send a letter of sympathy to his widow, the committee standing a« mark of respect to his m> It .v.-s also decided to send a let: r of sympathy to the relatives of I.
