ELECTION OF REPRESENTATIVES

At the conclusion of the annual meet ing of tie council, the Auckland Provin lial conference of fruitgrowers' associa llots was held, Mr. S. H. lard presid ing. In welcoming the 20 delegates and i number of visitors from all over tht province, the- chairman said he wished ■o stress a few points. It was a cause tor congratulation that the New. Zea land Federation had established ai iflice in Auckland. If growers would remain loyal to their own organisatior ihey would undoubtedly benefit it jvery way. The greatest drawback tc the" fruitgrowing industry in th« Dominion was lack of capital. This state of affairs the federation wa; mdeavouring to remedy. Had it not been for the New Zealand body, ht maintained that prices would not have been as good as they had been. Advisory Committee Election. Considerable discussion took place ovei ihe appointment of the Advisory Com nittee. . It was contended that a postal ballot (vouid create greater interest in the com mittee and Us work. Others held th* opinion that what was needed was mon publicity and urged that a resume of tb< minutes of the committee be forwarded to each association in the province. The following were re-elected: Messrs C. BaDantyne, F. Firth, E. Roy Becroft W. J. Rodgers, H. S. Izard, chairmanOther Delegates Elected. Two candidates were nominated foi the position of director, Messrs, S. H fcard and F. Firth, and the ballot re united in Mr. S. H. bard being returned to represent the Auckland Province oi the New Zealand Federation in Wellington. Delegates to the Dominion Conference to be held in Wellington on June 8 wen elected as follows: Mr. S. W. House, re presenting Thames district; Mr. H. Ballantvne, representing Hamilton; Messid F. Firth, W. J. Rodgers, and H. Pal tridge, representing Auckland; and Mr E. Roy Beerof t, representing Whangarei The following delegates to the Auckland Provincial Council were elected: Messrs. H. S. Rodgers, F. Firth, and H Pattridge. Remit* Considered. The conference then went on to consider 119 remits which will be placed before the ffT»i»n»l Dominion conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Fed erat ion in Wellington. It was decided to support a remit tc include tobacco growers in the federation. - The question of Auckland's represen tation on the federation board was considered, and it was. decided to sappori a motion tothe effect that tie confer ence should make such change* as mav be neceseasy, whereby Auckland pro vince shall be divided into two, eadi to eleet its own director to the board
