Chief Detective Cummings has a fairly good opinion of Frederick James Davis, who pleaded guilty to a charge of having assaulted another man, at the Police Court to-day.
' > Davis- was a, hard working man and had a good 'character on his ship, the Katoa, said . Mr.. Cummings. While pavis was away at sea the complainant, it was alleged, made An improper suggestion to Mrs. Davis. On returning to Auckland Davis met the other man and got even by punching, him, There was no doubt that accused had some provocation.
"We will treat it as a breach of the peace and fine him fl then," said the magistrate.
