TENT OCCUPIERS.

QUALIFIED TO VOTE.

AT SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS Owing to a misunderstanding of the regulations governing the election of school committees, it has been necessary for the Hen'dereon householders to elect a new committee. At the election in April last, only three candidates were nominated at the time appointed, and nine being required the Education Board directed that nominations be taken on the night of election. This was done. On that occasion, among the candidates nominated were two persons who reside in a tent or shed under license from the Henderson Town Board, the said license expiring in July next. The regulations provide that no person is eligible for a seat on - the committee who has not resided in- a permanent dwelling within the school district for three months previous to the date of the election, and on this ground the chairman decided the candidates referred to were not eligible. This matter was brought under the notice of. the. Education Board later on, and' the.. responsible officials declared that these candidates were eligible, as they had one child attending the Henderson School, and another election was ordered. Fourteen were nominated, and the following were elected:—Messrs. W. Haythornthwaite J chairman), A. W. Bussey (secretary), J. H. Johnston, C. M. Spencer, J. Wark, A. Forrest, T. McKay, Mrs. A. W. Bussey, and Mrs. S. M. King-Mason.
