The rough, squally weather of the ?ast week rendered supplies of freshcaught fish very short, with the exception of schnapper. Eggs. Duck eggs are more plentiful and a shade easier in price. Other lines show little change on the position as reported last Friday. Fresh-laid hen eggs still sell at 3/8 per dozen, duck eggs rule from 2/10 to 3/, chilled eggs 2/8, and pickled eggs from 2/4 to 2/6 per dozen. Hams and Bacon. These lines are selling well. Whole hams can be got retail at 1/3 to 1/4 per lb, and rashers at 1/8 to 1/9. Bacon in cuts sells from 9£d to 1/5 per lb, and in rashers at 1/4 to 1/6. Meat. Beef is unaltered in price. Sirloin sells at 8d per lb, rib sd, rolled beef 4d, ramp steak lid, and beef steak 5d per lb. Pork sausages are selling at 8d per lb, and beef sausages at 6d. Cooked meats sell as follow: Roast mutton, 1/6 per lb; corned beef, 1/8; pressed beef, 1/2; pressed tongue, 2/2; roast pork, 2/; and boiled ham, 2/6 per lb. Fish. Supplies are very short this week. Canadian salmon can be got at 2/ per lb, schnapper fillets 3d to 4d each, smoked fish lOd per lb. Fresh rabbits sell at lOd to 1/ each. Fruit. Quotations for all kind 3 of fruit are little changed. Dessert and cooking apples are Doth selling at 3d to 4d per lb. Dessert pears are 3d to 5d per lb, and cookers 3d per lb. Best hot-house grapes are at 2/ per lb, others 1/. Bananas are firmer, now ruling from 4d to 5d per lb. Lemons are marked 1/6 per dozen. American oranges are three for 1/, and Island four to five for 1/. Passion fruit are 8d per dozen. Hothouse tomatoes are selling at 1/ per lb, and outdoor at B<L Hothouse grapes rule from 1/ to 2/6 per lb, according to variety. Citron melons for jam-making are low in price, being offered at 141b for 1/. \ Vegetables. Supplies of vegetables are still ample for the requirements of the market. Potatoes can be got at 101b for 1/; swedes an:! onions at 121b for 1/; kumaras, 81b for 1/; pumpkins, Id to lsd per lb; cabbage, 3d to 6d each; cauliflowers, lOd to 1/9 each; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, Id per bunch; lettuce, 2d to 4d each; celery, 4d to dd per head; and French beans, 4d per lb.
