"PRINCE DANILO."
Objects to " Merry Widow" Film. SLIGHT ON FAMILY. PARIS, May 12. Prince Danilo, heir to the Throne of Montenegro before that country disappeared from the map (by being absorbed into Yugoslavia), to-day brought a writ for damages, asking for 50,000 francs against the producers of Mae Murray's famous film, "The Merry Widow," which is based on Franz Lehar's operetta of the same name.
Complainant says: "The film consistutes a serious libel on myself and my family—chiefly on my sister, the Queen of Italy—ami also on my late lamented countrv.
"I am unspeakably pained," the Prince added, "to see myself travestied hy cheap cinema star as staggering drunk through the Bois du Bologne dancing tables, and at the same time trying to marry a widow for her fortune."
Danilo is represented at the Court by the statesman, M. Paul Boneour (who has another princely client in Carol, of Rumania).
Tlic producers contend that the Danilo of the picture is not necessarily Danilo of Montenegro.
