PREFERENCE LEAGUE.

I A preliminary meeting to arrange the details of a Badge Day in aid of pubI licity for the Preference to New Zealand Goods League was held yesterday at the rooms of the League, Swanson Street when the Mayoress, Mrs. A. D. Campbell Mrs. A. Kidd, and Miss Carnachan, of the National Council of Women, and honorary members of the League, wore present to meet the organiser. It is hoped to make the selling of badges very widely appreciated, as each badge carries membership of the League with it, and they are only a shilling each, of which five per cent will go to the Plunket Society. It is proposed to hold a week's convention, beginning June 13, at which there will be between twenty and thirty speakers, who will lay before the public the value of using up our own materials in making our own goods. A fashion display is also being arranged which will be held in the Concert Chamber, at which some beautiful girls will display garments grown and manufactured in New Zealand, and enable people to see what we can do in this way to supply our own needs. Cooking will go on in the basement, and the food will be sold aa refreshments to the public, all made from New Zealand-grown products. Window displays will be given in between thirty and forty shops. It is also hoped to have literature to place before the people showing exactly what they will gain by becoming members erf the League, and giving reasons for the movement which the Preference for New Zealand Goods League is now striving to make Dominion : wide in its appeal, • . .
