CARS STUCK IN MUD.
MINISTER'S EXPERIENCE. ; VISIT TO OHURA DISTRICT. t ißy Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) I TAUMARUNUI, this day. The Hon. K. S. Williams, Minister of • Public Works, and his party experienced • wintry, .conditions, during. their visit to : the Ohura district on Saturday and ; Sunday. They were held up more than ; once through their cars being stuck in the mud. Deputations waited on the Minister at Tatu and Tokirima regarding the. rival routes for the conitnuation of the Stratford-Main Trunk railway line beyond- Ohura. -Deputations regarding roading . and other matters were also heard. The party arrived in Taumarunui on Sunday afternoon and this morning the Minister, accompanied by Mr. K. W. Smith, MJ , ., Mr. H. G. Dickie, M.P. and Messrs. 6. £. Manson and G. A. Stanton, members of the fivers Trust and P. Keller, district engineer, motored to Te Ma ire where they joined the boat and journied to the houseboat on the Wanganui River. This afternoon they proceeded to meet settlers at Mangaohutu and inspected the road which may be used if the upper reaches of the Wanga- • nui are cut out by the river service. The ' party will go on to Pipiriki, Raetihi, , Ohakune and Kaitieke, and return to Taumarunui on Friday. i - —
