ESBTS OVER £100,000. TO FOUND PRESBYTERIAN ORPHANAGE. NO RESTRICTION ON RACE OR CREED. Another great philanthropic trust for the benefit of Auckland is established under the -will of David McNair Dingwall, who died at his residence at Remuera at the end of last -week. No estimate of the value of the estate has been made, but k is very considerable, certainly upwards of £100,000.

After minor legacies and a provision for his sister, Miss Sarah Dingwall, the whole of the estate is to be transferred to trustees to found and maintain, in or adjacent to Auckland city, an institution to be called "The Dingwall Presbyterian Orphanage," for the care, maintenance, and education of orphans and destitute children. To quote the terms of the bequest: "The primary object and use of the orphanage is to be for the

shelter, maintenance, and upbringing of children born or domiciled in New Zealand, of any race or creed, who shall be orphans or destitute, or orphans who, not being destitute, would in their own interests, in the opinion of the trustees, l>e better cared for, educated, and brought up in the orphanage, or whether orphans or not, should be destitute, or whose parents are in straitened circumstances." The executors of the will are George Raymond Buttle, of Auckland, share* broker; James William Ryburn, of Auckland, gentleman; and Thornton Jackson, of Auckland, solicitor. The trustees, to whom the estate for carrying out the object of the bequest is to be transferred will .consist of (1) The three executors before named. (2) The ministers for the time being •f the following four Presbyterian churches, ntynely, St. Andrew's, St. David's, St. James', and St. Luke's. (3) Four laymen, one of which is to be appointed by the Presbytery from each of the four before-mentioned churches, and who are to hold office for one year, but are *to be eligible for reappointment by the Presbytery*
