NATIVE RISING.
Fight for "Throne of the Negroes." PHILIPPINE DISTURBANCE. MANILA, May 15. A revolt broke out among the negroes at Negros Island, one of the Philippine group, yesterday morning. Several thousand labourers seized four towns simultaneously. They disarmed the police and cut the telegraph wires. Several policemen and civilians were killed and many injured. Constabulary, who were rushed to the scene, dislodged the rebels from the Town Hall at Victoria. Reinforcements are being dispatched from Manila. The outbreak was directed against the sugar planters. The followers of a self-styled "Emperor" Intrencherado attempted by a coup to place him on the "throne of the negroes."—(A. and N.Z. and Sydney "Sun.")
