The Public Works Department forwarded a copy of warrant authorising the Raetihi Borough Council to construct a bridge over i the Makotuku Stream, and apportioning the cogt in terms of section 119 of the Public Works Act, 1908. The matter of fencing in connection with Harris' deviation came before the meeting and was discussed at some length. It was eventually decided that Mr. H. H. and Mrs. L. A. Harris be offered the sum of £493 4/6' in full compensation and satisfaction for all liabilities in connection with fencing Harris' deviation. Raetihi-Ohura Road, payment to be made for same from time to time as the work is completed. It was agreed to accept the following tenders:—For grit for Ohakune-Raetthi Road, K. Tnatlna's at 4/4 cubic yard; for grit for Ohaknne-Waionra Road, H. W. I.ittlewood'B tender at 7/ cubic yard: for I formation work, Owairua Road, A. Smith's, at £298 9/6. The engineer reported as follows: — Huikumu Riding.—Tenders have been called for formation of 40 chains of the Owairua Road. The repairing of the Plplriki Road is being done where the road has lost its shape. Horopito Riding.—Repairs have been done to bridges on the Matapuna Road, and repairs done to the road. Karlbl Riding.—The Tnrakina Road has been graded and trimmed up between the flaxmUl and the county boundary. Manganul Riding.—The bridge near Baddeley's Bluff has been completed and i approaches formed thereto. While repairs , were being done to the ToHtoMrau Bridge 'an accident happened in the process of lift'ing, and the whole bridge was precipitated into the gorge. Arrangements have been made to erect a new stock bridge; and the work will be put in hand without delay. Ohakune Riding.—The roughest sections of the Ohakune Road between Pakini and Makaranul will be top-dressed if satisfactory grit tender Is received. Parapara Riding.—The new bridge at Ore Ore has been completed by the Public Works Department, and the formation is being continued. I Ruatiti Riding.—The Makino Road i metalling contract has been satisfactorily 'completed. Slips have occurred at Harris , Deviation, and the road is blocked for a short period. Repairs have been done to the Manganui Bridge. Further work is still necessary to complete repairs, and will be put in hand directly the hardwood timbers are delivered. Some timbers of the stock bridge on Erua Road are defective and require renewal.
