WEEK-END ACCIDENTS ON THE ROAD. SHOP VERANDAH SMASHED. There was the usual crop of road accidents in Auckland and the district during the week-end, but, fortunately, none proved fatal. Alighting from a moving tramcar which she had boarded in error, Mrs. Clarice Higgins, aged 38 years, of 78, Grey Street, fell heavily and sustained slight concussion of the brain. She is progressing satisfactorily. Stanley Gordon, of Tennessee Avenue Mangere, was riding a motor cycle in Queen Street, Onehunga, yesterday, when he collided with another machine. He sustained a severe cut on the right le~ and had to be taken to hospital. 0 Another motor cyclist, Robert Jackson, of 66, Church Street, Devonport was admitted to hospital on Saturday suffering from a broken leg. He collided with a motor car near the corner of Manukau Road and Owens Road.

A Spectacular Smash. An unusual accident occurred in the early hours of yesterday, when a motor car collided with the verandah supports of Mr. W. C. Kruse's second-hand store, at the corner of Hobson Street and Cook Street. Two cast-iron posts were carried away and the verandah, nearly 40 feet in length, collapsed on to the footpath. hTe motor car was extricated from the wreckage, and was so little damaged that it could be driven away.
