Scarlet and green Chinese lanterns shaded all the lights. Many pretty gowns were worn. Amongst those dancing were: Misses Hughie, Smith, Seabrooke, T. Seabrooke, E. Ford, Jackson, Lindsay, Martin, Carton, White, Leslie, Ferrar, Dantoh.

Several members of the Lyceum Club gathered together on Saturday morning at the Tudor Tea Rooms to farewell Mrs. Miller, who is leaving Auckland for a holiday in England. The hostesses were: Meedames G. H. Palmer and A. Bollock. The guests included Mesdames J. Boyle, of Huntly, celebrated their golden wedding on Wednesday. They arrived in the Dominion many yean ago, and after living in many parts of the South Island, they settled at Huntly in 1913. Members of the family travelled long distances to be present at the gathering, and Mr. and Mre. Boyle received many congratulatory messages. They have three sons and four daughters, and there are 22 grandchildren. ». ♦ • ' • A party and dance in honour of the coming of age of Miss Elsie Stokes was eivenin St. Matthew's Hall, Hobson Street, by her mother, Mrs. Stokee, for relations and friends. A jolly time was spent in games and dancing. The supper tables were very prettily decorated with streamers and colours by her cousin and young lady friend and her brother. During the supper the toast of Miss Elsie .Stokes was proposed by Canon Grant Cowen. « •#. • •

A successful junrble sale under the nrganisation of Mrs. A. D. Campbell took place in the Alexendra Street Hall on Friday afternoon. The proceeds, which resulted in £37, were devoted -to the Mayoress' Library League. The conveners in charge of the stalls were Mrs. J. Morpeth, Mrs. D. McSTair. Mrs. Mathaie, Mrs. T. McGregor, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Mears, Mrs. Jones, Miss Neumegen, and Miss Frost, whose untiring efforts to make the sale a success deserve great praise. #

"Mn. W. Derry was hostess on Friday morning to many friends who wished her farewell prior to her departure by the Mar'ania for West Australia. The tea table was decorated in beautiful roses.

It was a cheery sight after the Jinal performance of Crooks, Ltd., on Friday night when the whole company of University students held a dance at the "Click Clack" Cabaret until the early hours of the morning. Dancing favours. etc., made the fun fast and furious.

The Tudor Tea Rooms held many tea parties on Saturday morning. The tables were gaily decorated in red and green autumn berries arid foliage. The hostesses included Mesdames White, McArthur, Spooner, Webster, Dawson, Bruce, Baker, Stevenson and many others.

There were a number of parties at the Regent Ballroom on Saturday night. Excellent taste was displayed iii the f rocking. Fenton, apple green crepe, trimmed with sold and green fringe; Miss Mitchelson, black velvet with wide beige satin sash; Miss Bcttina Edwards, black and silver metal lame, diamate trimmings; Miss Cfcil Hall, French gown of black taffeta, the skirt embroidered to the waist in red and blue chenille roses, outlined hi gold tinsel; M.iss Doreen O'Sullivan, gold and" black ninon; Miss Macindoe, powder blue taffeta, with dull rose sash at waist; Miss D. Desney, lavender and sequin georgette; Mrs. W. H. Jones, smart black and white lace gown; Mrs. Gregory, black satin and lace frock; Miss Masin, beige lace and taffeta gown.

The farewell party given on Friday night at the Regent Ballroom for Mr. Theo. Tresize was a delightfuly informal affair, most of the young people knowing one another, which is a factor when "making a party go" is concerned. The Staff and orchestra showed their appreciation by presenting their guest with a beautifully designed travelling clock. Mr. Tresize severs his connection with the ballroom, having undertaken to produce many amateur performances throughout the Dominion. Members of the Pageant Entertainment arrived ot the Regent and joined the merry throng. & if - # ♦

A very pleasant afternoon was spent last Saturday, when members of the Girls' Committee of the Devonport subbranch of the Navy League gave a "white" afternoon, at the residence of Mrs. Douglas, to Miss Hilda Seagar, who is to be married shortly.' Miss G. Wrijfley, president, on behalf of the committee, presented Miss Seagar with a handsome brass bowl as an expression of their good wishes for happiness in her approaching marriage.
