IMMIGRATION IN THE 'SEVENTIES.
The account of "Immigration in the 'Seventies," by Neville Forder, makes me ask where he got his information from. My husband, three children and I came out on board the Alumbagh on her first trip to New Zealand. I was on deck a lot and mixed up with a lot of the people. I can truthfuly say I found most of them very respectable. Mr. Forder says the Government were not particular who they sent , out. I can remember we all had to pass two or three doctors. We had to have references from tradespeople and others and letters from clergymen. ONE WHO KNOWS.
