STAMPING MACHINE.
AN AUSTRALIAN INVENTION. .. Some time ago Mr. W. P. MineU, an J accountant of the Queensland National | Bank Chambers, submitted to the Post-1 master-General in Melbourne a machine,; known as the Leo post machine, aa, invention for stamping letters. . Tho department has now returned thai machine to Mr. MineU, with the intimation that it would bs accepted by .the (department for 'the purpose of stamping letters. These _ machines would operate on similar lines to a meter. Instead of purchasing stamps, tho possessor of a machine could take it to the nearest postmaster and indi-J cate the number of "impressed" stamps, required. The postmaster would fix thai machine to stamp to a certain number j i and lock it. Ordinary postage stamp3j i would bo dispensed with, and instead the envelopes would simply be placed in , the machine and the stamps impressed! i thereon.
