1 AIE FORCE MORTALITY. | I ( (Received 11.30 a.m.) j t CANBERRA, this day. I At the inquest on Flying Officer Ewen, ) evidence was given that the machine was i overhauled at Melbourne before its
arrival at Canberra. It was a re-conditioned one but was overhauled regularly. The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death. # Mr. Ewen's accident was the ninth since the Air Force arrived at Canberra to participate in the opening ceremonies. The other pilots escaped without serious injury. Six deaths have occurred from Air Force crashes this year and fifteen since the corps was inaugurated.
