TOWN PLANNING.
SUGGESTION FROM DEVONPORT.
COMPREHENSIVE REGIONAL
SCHEME,
A meeting was held this morning between the Devonport Borough Council and Mr. R.,8. Hammond, director of town planning, when Mr. Hammond explained the position and requirements of the Town Planning Act as regards Devonport..
The following resolution was passed: That a comprehensive regional scheme covering the Greater Auckland area should first be prepared, -definitely allocating Devonport'a position as a component part of the whole. It is suggested that there should first of all be arranged conferences of all local bodies concerned to appoint a sub-com-mittee to devise a basic scheme in terms of section 28 of the Town Planning Act.-
After the meeting Mr. Hammond was taken to the top of MounJ Victoria where the complete lay-out of the borough was seen and explained to him.
