LONDON, May 9. METALS. (Quotations on May 5 in parentheses.) Copper.—Spot, £55 6/10% (£54 15/7%); three months, £55 16/10% (£55 5/7%). Lead.—Spot, £25 11/3 (£25 16/3); three Months, £26 1/3 (£26 6/3). Spelter .-Spot, £20 11/3 (£29 8/9); three months, £29 15/ (£29 13/9). Tin.—Spot, £299 2/6 (£300); three Months, £289 12/6 (£2OO 11/3). Silver.—Standard, 26 l-16d (26d) per oz; fine, 28 l-8d (28 M6d). BRADFORD TOPS. The Bradford tops market was ' depressed-. Topmakers are willing to make concessions, but buyers are holding off. WHEAT. LONDON, May 9. Cargoes are firm, but with the Continental demand in abeyance quotations are unchanged. Parcels opened firm, but closed quietly at late rates, to an advance of 3d. By the Maloja and Esperance Bay 55/6. By the Fordsdale and Persic 55/9. Liverpool futures: May, 11/1; July, 10/10%; October, 10/6%. LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, May 9. At the London wool sales over half the offerings were Puntas. All colonial classes were in limited supply, and there was a better tone throughout, and prices showed A hardening tendency. The New Zealand clip "Toutarae" sold at from 14% d to 13% d. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated May 10:— Wool Sales: the sales continue; competition improved; catalogues being well cleared; the tone of the market is firmer. FRUIT IN LONDON. THE PAKEHA'S CONSIGNMENT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following message, dated May 7, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— ... Apples.—The lonie shipment is cleared and the Pakeha consignment is on the market. Condition good. Pears backward, but generally sound* except for little watte in Winter Nelis and Beurre Bosc. Fair demand.
