MOTOR COMPETITION.
RAILWAYMEN'S ATTITUDE. CONDITIONS CONTRASTED. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Motor competition with the State railways is not looked on with approval by the Amalgamated Society of Bailway Servants, the largest trade union connected with the service. The executive council, at the quarterly meeting now proceeding, has passed a resolution urging all members of the society to travel by trains, in preference to privately-owned buses. One point which strongly appeals to the railwaymen is that the working conditions of the drivers of motor buses do not compare favourably with the working conditions of employees of the Railway Department.
