DR. BUCK'S FAREWELL.
LECTURE on the cook islands,
TUba Auckland Institute winter session public lectures will be commenced at the University Hall this evening, when Dr. Buck will lecture on "Native Life in the Cook Islands." Dr. Buck will tell of the voyages and traditions of these relatives of our own Maoris, and will describe and illustrate with lantern ■lideß their habitations, clothing, canoes, Ashing, games, pastimes and dramatic displays. The study of the traditions, customs and culture of the Cook Islanders in relative to the Maori is of great importance, and it is to promote this and allied studies throughout the Pacific that Dr. Buck will shortly be leaving New Zealand.
