THAMES VALLEY BOARD.

PAEROA, Saturday.

The monthly meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was held here to-day, the chairman (Mr. Frank M. Strange) presiding. Kerepeehi Sub-Station.—The district electrical engineer, Public Works Department, wrote advising that it would be necessary for the board to call tenders for the switch gear required for the Kerepeehi sub-station, delivery to be given in December next. Tenderers should be agked to supply before August next plans of the switch gear to enable provision to be made for any holdingdown bolts, or for holes in the floor for cables or trifurcating boxes. The Department requested the board to arrange for the cartage of poles from Kopu to the site. With regard to the metering of the temporary supply the Department inquired if the special G.E. Set would be available for the service, and if so, to forward the dimensions. Morrinsville Lighting.—The New Zea-

land Railway Department wrote requesting the board to proceed with the lighting of the road facing the railway settlement at Morrinsville, the lamps to be provided free of cost with a maintenance charge of £6 a year. Waihi Quarry Power.—The Waiiii Borough Council wrote with reference to the contract for supply of power to the council's crushing plant. The council had agreed in February, 1925, to guarantee to the board £70 a year for five years if power was supplied to the crushing plant. The stone in the quarry where the motor is situated had been condemned for road purposes, and the council would liave.no further use for the motor, and still had the minimum guarantee to pay each month for nearly three years. The council requested to be relieved of all liability under the guarantee as from May 31. The council proposed in future to use the steam-roller as the source of supply for crushing metal at the various tip-heads, thereby making it impossible to use electricity. Power Boards' Conference.—The Electric Power Boards' Association advised that the next conference would be held in July next, and the board was asked to forward remits before May 20 next.

Borough Representative.—Advice was received that Mr. C. A. Arthur had bean returned unopposed as Te Arolia's Borough's representative on the board; Thames representative, Mr. H. R. Bush; Paeroa representative, Mr. F. E. Flett. Consumers.—The total number of consumers connected to the board's mains on April 30, 1927, was 6378, which includes the boroughs of Thames and Te Aroha. Thirteen lighting and heating consumers, seven water-heaters, two electric ranges, together with six motors on farms, of which three are two horse-power milking motors were also connected There are now connected and operating 1001 water-heaters, 147 electric ranges, and the total number of motors connected and running on farms is 1882, of which 1017 are two horsepower milking motors. In the number of meters connected to the board's mains during the month, three are on already existing lines. In addition to the above, 2G consumers had additional lights and heating points, etc., connected during the month. c
