RUGBY FOOTBALL
OPENING OF SEASON. TO-MORROW'S SENIOR GAMES AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME. The 1927 Rugby season in Auckland will be opened to-morrow afternoon, when eighteen of the nineteen senior clubs will be seen in action on various grounds. At Eden Park, the teams which will be engaged will include two that have been actively discussed in recent weeks —City, the newest senior team which has arrived amid a deal of comment as a revival of the old City Club, and Training College, a team which has been promoted to A section honours on the strength of the bright and effective football played by the student teachers last year. Training College is set a very strong test in the draw for the first game, which puts the young team up against Grammar Old Boys for its opening appearance. This match will be an early one, starting at 1.45 p.m. on the No. 1 ground at the Park. It will be followed by the Ponsonby and College Rifles game, and despite the defeat of the latter in a practice game last week, there is reason to believe that it will make a good showing against last vear'3 champions. On No. 3 ground at the I ark, the City team will play the University B team. At North Shore the home team will be opposed by the Marist Old Boys' A team, and at the Showground (Epsom) L niversitv and Grafton will make their opening appearances. The B division games are Marist B v. Takapuna, at Takapuna; Manukau v. .Newton, at Onehunga; Ellerslie v. Otahuhu, at Ellerslie; and Tramways v. Technical Old Boys, at Victoria Park learns:— ELLERSLIE. Tr!n lio R S "~ Coha s' Kowe - Sturmpy, Green il l l B ™ w , n , Richards, Beven, Dunn Shnrr <5 * f hirtcliff e> Panaha, Strong' fchort.
