FORMER INTER-COLONIAL TRADER.

TROOPSHIP DURING THE WAR. As reported in our cabled news, the Kuddart-Parker Co.'s steamer Riverina is ashore on Gabo Island. When built at Sunderland in 1905, the Riverina was intended for the passenger and cargo trade on the Australian coast, but she was transferred to the intercolonial service. Later she reverted to the Australian trade. In 1918, when the Wimmera was sunk by the explosion of a German mine off the New Zealand coast, with the loss of 26 lives, the Riverina again entered the New Zealand service, making regular visits to Auckland and Wellington. A parade of the members of St. John Ambulance took place yesterday morning at St. Matthew's Anglican Church at which representatives were present from practically all over New Zealand. The parade assembled at the ambulance station, Rutland Street, and marched in procession to the Chureh.
