LAWN TENNIS.
INTER-'VARSITY TOURNEY. SATURDAY'S MATCHES. CHRIs-HOLM BEATS HUBBLE. Althou.eh there was no brilliant tennis Jt the Stanley Street courts on Saturday, whoa ihe inter-Uiiivcrsitv matches Hrere played, the standard was good, end at times one or two players showed flashes of excellent form. After lunch two more men's Bingles were played, and these produced some bright tennis. Chisbolm (Otago) and Hubble (Auckland) played a hard fought match., the Otago player driving the Auckland man all over the court. Ferkins and Hunter gave a good exhibition. Hunter being somewhat below the standard he showed fa the morning. Ferkins' steadiness eventually wore Hunter out. Some of the combined doubles matches provided some exciting tennis. Hubble end Miss Miller (Auckland) had a hard job to beat Chisholm and Miss Scott (Otago). At times some spectacular play was seen, the volleying of all four ' : players being sound.
