HOLIDAY, WEATHER.

— ■ AUCKLAND EXCELS ITSELF. CROWDS ON THE MOVE. HEAVY TRAIN AND TRAM TRAFFIC. Auckland has excelled itself this Easter as far as weather is concerned. There have been blue skies and brilliant sunshine throughout the whole of the Auckland province. The result has been that, record crowds have been on the move, since Thursday. Sunday pleasure-seekers commenced to assemble on the. waterfront early, and launches and ferry-boats were soon crowded with gay and happy people. Motor trips to seaside resorts and further afield into the country also proved must popular. From an early hour this morning large crowds commenced to assemble in tin , city in anticipation of the races at Ellerslie. the golf tournament, the interl"nivei>ity sports and several other forms of outdoor attractions.

Although race traffic on the railways was not particularly heavy on Saturday. indications this morning pointed to record crowds being carried to-day. Every train which left the station for Kller.slic was full, and tramcar traflic was also heavy. Special trains from the Waikato and Whangaiei districts wore well patronised, the railway officials having difficulty in accommodating passengers on account of the shortage of rollingstock. The Whangarei special train was an innovation. She. left there at 5 a.m., and picked up a fair number of passengers in Wells forrt. On arrival at Newmarket every scat was occupied.'' This train will iea\i> Auckland on the return journey at ii..'i<t this evening, and is due at Wbanga--11 i about midnight. The Main Trunk expresses from and to Wellington this morning were what railuayinen would describe as "light trains." On arrival at Frankton the Limited from Wellington was practically empty. Her -eating accommodation from that station aas fully taxed, however, many people preferring to pay the extra money inlead of waiting for the race specials. The Daylight Limited for Wellington thi> morning took away a mere handful of passengers. The Railway Departniojit propose to take this train off at the end el thi> month.
