NO MONEY AND NO MEAT.

CREW OF TUG IN WANT. APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAXGAXUI, Saturday. A deputation from the crew of the tug Kahanui waited on the Wanganui Harbour Board on Thursday evening, requesting temporary relief. The spokesman, Mr. B. Boulton, said that hte 13 men aboard the tug were stranded and had no money, and there was no meat aboard. They asked if the board could assist them. The chairman said the men were under engagement to Vickers, Ltd., the builders of the tug, and the company would not allow the board to make any disbursements on their behalf. An order on the men's pay was suggested. It was decided to get into touch with Vickers, Ltd., in London, and that arrangements be made for the temporary relief of the crew. A member of the deputation remarked "Wβ even haven't got a fag." The remark brought forth a generous response.
