PRELIMINARY INQUIRY HELD.

A preliminary inquiry into the strsDO* ing of the little steamer Wetere et Mokau has been held by the Collector «f Customs at New Plymouth. Captain Hcnders-on. the crew, and the acting-sip* nal man were examined. Their strati statements have been forwarded to tin Secretary of Marine, who will decide whether or not a magisterial inquiry i» to be held.
