EASTER EGGS.
ANOTHER COMPETITION FOR THE LITTLE ONES My Dear Little Friends, — It is Easter time, and everywhere we look to see Easter eggs. Some are big and some are small, some are chocolate and some are made into tunny shapes; others have dolls and toys hidden in them, and all are very nice. A long time ago the people used to give each other real eggs at Easter time, but not just as they are in their plain white or brown shells. They used to write the names of the children to whom they were going to be given, and draw pictures on them, and then colour them with all sorts of colours. They were always boiled hard, and the boys used to play ball with them afterwards; and the more eggs that got broken the better! It would never do if we did this, would it?
The big competition finishes to-day, so we can have one just for ourselves this week. In the picture above there are some Easter eggs, •nd some dear little fluffy chickens, and round the edge there is a border of pretty flowers. For the competition you are to colour it, and I will give books to the three children who send in the best coloured pictures. You may use crayons or paints; and I know that even if yon do not win a prise you will love doing it. Remember to send in your full name, age and address. Next week we.will have something tp make or perhaps a game to play. There are so many things to do /7\ that it is hard to choose, but when Saturday comes, lid sure fll # Jjf *£j '^^^ that you will find something that ClTl iW^JX^^ yon will like in your own corner. \JA^Z^^^
