GREAT EASTER COMPETITION

AVOID THE LAST-MINUTE RUSH, A HELPFUL LETTER TO COMPETITORS. VALUABLE ADVICE FOR THE CAUTIOUS. Dear Boy* and Girls, — To-day appears the last of the (our sections of our great Easter competition, and you will do well to read the following tips, which will be of assistance to you in making up your work ready to send to this office. Remember there are thousands of entries to be judged, and consequently those who have not ' carefully obeyed the instructions will receive scant consideration. Above all, read both the special and general rules until you are certain that you have grasped their full meaning. One page one question is a good rule to bear in mind, although that does not necessarily confine your answer to one page. It will serve to remind you that eacb question must start on a fresh page. Another important point to remember is that EVERY page must bear your name, age and address, as well as the number of the question and the section of which it is part. If you follow the specimen given you cannot go astray. During the course of the competition instructions, omitted from the sections to which they referred, were published. The first was an alteration in Section 1, Queston 2, Number 5, the third word should read . . RT. The second notice read as follows: "Although not stated at the time, competitors are required to sort the -words built from the word "AMELIORATING" into strict alphabetical order." See Question 1, Section 2. Also, the total number of words found must appear at the top of the first sheet. A point that was not stated before refers to Question 3, Section 2. With one exception all the "hidden trees" are in the singular. This one exception accounts for the only "S" (Square No. 11) in the whole puzzle. Do not let the fact that you cannot solve one question cause you to refrain from sending in the rest of your work. Eacb question carries only a certain number of marks, so that your loss will not be great. Your work must reach this office not later than April 30, 1927, and entries received after that date cannot be considered. Address your .envelope to Peter Pan, "Star" Office, Auckland, and in the bottom left-hand corner write "Easter Competition." No correspondence is to be enclosed with your work. A last look over your work will repay you, and it is easier to correct an error then than to "wish" you had remembered. To one and all _^*w I wish |he best of ±j~^^^ success, and to one / lS f jt^jS^^^ and all I say— t^ff "May the best mac yjS*^*^^ win." - *^^
