UTILITY BOOK CASES.

Any girl or woman who must spend all or part of her year in unfriendly | rented rooms will welcome the idea of a "travelling book-case.*' writes "Every Ladies' Journal," whereby she can have I with her always her most choice volumes arranged in such a way that they do not need packing when she mores "from place to place. The idea originated with the wife of a Navy man who has lived in almost every corner of the globe. The travelling book-ca«-e consisted of a pair of small book-shelves, exaetlv alike nnd painted a deep ivorv colour sure to tone in with any room to which »he might have to assign them. A carpenter had made tbem for her of good strong boards. like perfectly plain boxes, measuring about 38 inches in height, 20 inches in width and 10. inches in depth. The bottom made one shelf, and there were two more shelves equally *paeed. When it was time "to pack and go." all that was necessary was to stuff paper or soft clothing over the tops of the books to keep tbem from sliding move the two cases face to face, and slip the pins through the two pairs of inconspicuous binges that had been put on the outside of the shelves and paint edl ivory. A wrapping of burlap or ticking and some rope completed the joo.
