MILLIONS FOR ART.
HUGE BEQUEST BY AN AMERICAN. FORTUNE ROMANCE. Approximately £4.000.000 will become available for the enrichment of America's art through the settlement of the estate of the late Mr. E. D. Libber, of Toledo, Ohio. This sum represent the amount to be turned over to the Toledo Museum of Art. the residuary legatee under the terms of Mr. Libbey's will. The final estimate of the value of Mr. Libbey's residuary estate has been made possible by the sale of estates and holdings of stock in the LibbeyOwens Glass Company. Rise to Wealth. The Toledo Museum of Art already ranks among the country's most import-ant art centres. Coming from Boston to Toledo he established a small cut-glass business, which did not attract attention until the World's Fair, when his exhibit won much favourable comment. From this small beginning he developed one of Toledo's greatest industries, and at the time of his death left an estate of approximately £6,000,000. Mr. Libbey sponsored the erection of the present art museum building, contributing more than half the cost.
