RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION.
SUPPLY OF ARTIFICIAL LIMBS. The president, Mr. S. Austin Carr, presided over the usual monthly meeting of the oihcers and executive ot the Auckland Upturned Soldiers' Association on Wednesday. With regard to the disposal of a sum of money handed to the Hospital Board before Christmas by the organisers of a. Sunday concert, considerable indignation was expressed at the failure of the Hospital Board to reply to a letter asking for details us to how this money had been spent. The annual report was received, and was considered satisiactory. It showed that the membership had again Increased this year. It was decided lo hold the annual general meeting on Thursday. L'Sth inst, at the club-rooms. It was reported that arrangements in connection with Anzac Day were well in hand. . The secretary reported that the management of the Strand Theatre had very kindly offered to assist the Poppy Day funds by screening an appropriate picture on the evening of Poppy Day, nnd hunding over a percentage of the takings to the funds. This offer was very much appreciated. The contract for the supply of artificial limbs was discussed, and dissatisfaction was expressed at the terms and conditions of the specifications which had been issued when calling for tenders for the supply of limbs on the expiry of the present contract. It "was decided that everything possible should he done to persuade the Government to withdraw the specifications and hold an inquiry into the whole matter.
