TENDER FOR LORRIES.
LOWEST NOT ACCEPTED
CITY COUNCIL'S DILEMMA
As the result of a conference between the parties interested and committees of the Auckland City Council, a difficulty, which had arisen in connection with the non-acceptance of a tender for motor lorries for transport purposes has been solved.
In a letter to the City Council, Mr. M. Delich had protested against the nonacceptaneo of a tender for motor lorries and alternatively motor hire, stating that he had been informed that his tenders were the lowest, and strictly in accordance with the terms and conditions, yet a tender from Messrs. Winstone, Ltd., was accepted.
The combined committee reported to the council on Thursday evening that Messrs. Winstono, Ltd.." had agreed to the withdrawal of the council's letter advising that the tender of that firm had been accepted, and that in view of the withdrawal of the letter, which had been sent inadvertently, tho committee desire to express appreciation of the action; the committee, further recommended that no tenders should' be accepted.
Tho report of tiie committee was adopted, it being stated that the works commmittee was now using Mr. Delich's lorries when required.
