GIFTS TO MUSEUM.
POLYNESIAN CURIOS
The Auckland Museum has recently been enabled to acquire some choice Maori and Pacific Islands ethnological articles through the generosity of Mr. John Court, senior, who has "iven £25 especially for this purpose. Chief among them is a large and finely carved green* stone tiki recently discovered at the head of Pelorus Sound, where such articles arc rare. The collection includes a series of very large stone toki or adzes of the rare wedge shape, and, among the island articles, a ceremonial cluh from the Louis Louisiadc Archipelago, a New Guinea axe with carved handle, and obsidiantipped and two-pronged fish spears from the Admiralty Islands.
Another donation to the Museum i<= that of Miss L. M. Browne, of Onehunga who has given £5 for the purpose ol acquiring additional specimens for the public collection.
