SOUTHERN MEETINGS.

FIELDS REVIEWED. WAIRARAPA AND FEILDING EVENTS. N OMISSION AT TAUHERENIKAU. The principal race meetings outside .uckland on Saturday will be held at he Tauherenikau and Feilding courses, ither events arc the Tuapeka County ockey Club (one day) and Riverton lacing Club's (three days) annual meetlgs. The Canterbury Jockov Club's utumn meeting does not open until londav, and will be concluded on Tuesav. Advices from Wellington are that the •eather is windy and threatening, and i the event, of rain form will be easily pset, especially on the Feilding course. WAIRARAPA RACING CLUB. There are only six acceptors in the laidcn event at Tauherenikau, and lloquciit is outstanding. In fact, she s the only runner with any form worth peaking of. Kilmoyler looks the best X the others. Several of the runners in the Mokai landicap claim subsequent enf-a-re-lents, which complicates matters I rhat. Kilmezzo should run prominently, lo was responsible for a couple of reditable races last week at Masterton. (ronstell, who is now trained at Trenliam, should also show up. , J Orchid ran an excellent race on the I oncluding day at Trentham last month, o in the much weaker company in the Railway Handicap he should "go well, lieinius, however, seems likely to be cry hard to beat. He is not quite up o the best company, but is well placed iere. There is a large field in the two-year-ild race, but it is mostly quantity minus lualitv. King Midas was unlucky at Masterton, getting very badly away, tnd with luck he should do better on Saturday. Chips should again run a race. Masher, by Gay Lad from the first of this marc's pro;eny to race, has a great private rcpuation at Tauherenikau. Tresham may bo the favourite, with i r crtigern, in the Easter Handicap, won at Masterton hist week, ind Tresham ran second to Merry Damon. It is reasonable to expect both 0 improve, but the two most likely to se in the money are Vesperus and First Acre. They are not a good lot in the Tuhitarata Handicap. Mandarene, who is just out of maiden company, is improving, and may go as well as anything. No Favours and Gardant may show up. Deluge, who is now with H. Lorigan at Trentham, is to run in the Martinborough Handicap, over seven furlongs. Deluge has done well since he came down, bar a few days idleness on account of a knock, and he should give a good account of himself. Modern, 10.4, was omitted from the list of acceptors in this event, and she is one who may be hard to beat. Willow Wai may prove the best of the others. A geod beginner like Arch Arrow should be hard to beat in the Ferry Handicap, in which the host, of the opposition appears to be Carrigallen and Raukura. Riders are going to be scarce tlhis meeting, and in summing up the chances of the candidates the risk has to be taken that they will not suffer from indifferent horsemanship. FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB. Several Aucklanders will be seen out at Feilding, and on performances the handicapper appears to have taken a risk with them, especially Town Bird. In the hurdles, form points to Kalakaua and Ardath. Kalakaua is a pretty good hurdler and has improved since he won his double at Napier Park. Gauntlet has been doing good work at Trentham but he may be in need of a race. There is a very big field in the Ongo Hack Handicap and much will depend upon the draw at the post. Town Bird is well handicapped and should run prominently. There is a wholesale bunching of recent form amongst the remainder, and a big dividend is in prospect. Ohui and Vast Acre may do best of the others. Glenross is not badly treated with 9st in the Manchester Handicap, and he seems likely to run a good race, and Ngata may also be prominent and Captain Gazeley is a likely lightweight. Hallowmorn is the winner of a couple of hurdle races, but he is still a maiden on the flat, and as he has a good deal of pace he should run well in the Maiden Stakes, in which there is little or no form to recommend the remainder, of ! whom Monsogne may do best,. Horomea ha.s been improving lately and she was well backed at Trentham j last month, where she was.not too lucky She may make amends on Saturday in 1 the Taonui Handicap, in which Valkon and are a couple of likely sorts. Tukia has shown no form in six starts this season, but she may be forward enough to run a good race in the Mangone Handicap. Bonogne has fair recent form to his credit, and Avola who is reported as doing good work always runs well when fresh. Paitonu won well at Bulls, and should be able to repeat the form in the Onepuhi Handicap. Inoe has been working well at Trentham and in her best form would run a good race. Although True Blood has 9.1 in the Halcombe High Weight he should run a merry seven furlongs. ' Royal Diadem has shown recent winning form and Peneus at anything like is well in with 9.8. He carried 9.13 into second place in a similar event on the same track in the spring.
