HUMANE SOCIETY'S AWARD.
Advice has lieen received by Mr. Alex. E. Eagleton. the Auckland representative of the Royal Humane Society that "a letter of commendation" has been awarded to Miss Vera X. Newman, of Auckland, who assisted in the rescue from drowning of Mr. Leslie Sparnon. at Hellyer's Creek, in I)co»'inl>er. l!»2:i. Miss Newman is an employee of a Queen Street drapery establishment.
