"EVIL SPIRITS."

TO KEEP HIM COMPANY. ASLEEP IN A WHARF SHED. Ernest Cox (4.1) has been associating with the "evil spirits" again. Last night ho was found without lawful excuse in one of the I'nion Shipping Company's sheds on the Western wharf, with orily a bottle of methylated spirits to keen him company. After Co\ had pleaded giiiltv to the charge at the Police Court this morning. Senior Sergeant Edwards stated that as a result of complaints having been made about men sleeping in sheds in the vicinity of the wharves, a search was made and Cox was arrested. He had been before the court on many occasions, this being his 03rd nppeai ance. Cox really a sneak. thief and was sentenced to seven days for theft last month. "He is just out of goal and takes to the 'spirits' again," remarked Mr. Hunt, who prescribed a further term of one month's imprisonment.
