MT. ROSKILL VALUATIONS.
movement for a change. Of the 2500 ratepayers in Mount Roskill at least 5-13 are dissatisfied with the present system of rating on the capital valuation. They want to ■change over to rating on unimproved values, and in order to make their wishes known they have signed a petition asking the Road Board to take a poll of ratepayers to give effect to the change. This was presented to the Road Board last night, at a special meeting, by four ratepayers. It the petition is found to bo in order, and complies with the Act, which requires that on the petition of fifteen per cent of the ratepayers on the roll asking for the change, then the board shall take a poll of ratepayers to decide the question, on a bare majority. The poll will be held on May 7, the same day as the annual Road Board election.
