AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. DRAW AND ORDER 0E PLAY. CAMBRIDGE CLUB. Tbere was a goo<l nttemlanee r.f members and friends at the ollieinl opening r.f the 1027 srolf season at the links on Saturday afternoon. During the afternoon mixed foursomes were played, the compelitii.n resulting in a draw between Mrs. Nolan and Wlson and Mrs. Hume (Ilami'toni and •T. P>anks. An approaching and putting competition was won by Miss Wilkinson (Hamilton) and Snwers. with Mrs. J. Hanks and Nelson second. During an interval of play the players and company were the quests of Mr. and Mrs. Hannon at afternoon ti i in the pavilion. Again this season the prospects are most encouraging. The membership of the club now stands at 7S lad'es and 3:: gentlemen. Fight new members are join ing. For the commencement of the season the links are in very good order, and there is the promise that tlie greens will lie in better order than ever as the season advances

WAITEMATA LADIES' CLUB. The club will open the season to-morrow (Wednesday) with foursomes, players to be on the links at 11.30 a.m.

GLENDOWIE CLUB

The season was opened on Saturday last under excellent conditions and with a large attendance of members. The turf on the fairways, through judicious cutting, has now developed into a uniformly good sole of grass. the greens also showing great improvement. These are now being treated with tine sand and manure, and development of the new greens as recommended by Mr. Boss, professional to the council, in his report of last year, is also is hantl. The new eighteenth preen has now been practically completed. I'he pipe culvert at. tiie approach to tile lirst bole Is now lengthened and sand bunkers formed guarding this green. A scheme is now in hand to erect two more foot bridges crossing the twelfth ami thirteenth gullies. The members can thus look forward with confidence to an enjoyable season. A stretch of concrete road along tiie bus route to the links lias recently been completed by the local authority, which will be appreciated by visitors and members. OTAHUHU CLUB.
