REPARATIONS DEMANDED.
Five Notes Presented as Sequel to Nanking Riots. FULL SATISFACTION ASKED BY ALL. CONSEQUENCES OF REFUSAL UNDISCLOSED. The five foreign Powers in China have presented, simultaneously, their demands as the sequel to the outrages at Nanking. Full satisfaction is demanded for the loss of life and the damage to property. The question of action in the event of the demands being unsatisfied is left to the future decision of each Government. In the civil war, the Northerners have sustained their series of gains and the Cantonese are stated to be retreating demoralised.
