puzzled as to how they got there. The pit ia only a short distance from a branch of theltiver Waiulle, but has a connection with it. Mr. .lardine, the foreman, said that mo*t of the workmen had taken bi« catches home, and the lake on Mitcham Common had been stocked with more than 100(1 of the finest of the fish, which we ,- e carried in baths from the pit to the lake.
