Tea I/01l is the name claimed for a rearing filly by Tea Tray — Doll. " °

The Thorn, Damaris, Thaw and Covent Garden will be Mr. G. M. Currie's representatives at the Auckland meeting this month.

K. Porter, the Opotiki owner trainer, has booked accommodation for four horses at W. Mobberley's stable, in view of the coming autumn meeting.

It is stated that Comical, last year's Grand National hurdle winner." will shortly be taken to Wauganui and will be trained there during the winter months.

A four-year-old full brother to Magna Charta, in work at Waipukurau, is the property of Mr. W. Henderson, who has been associated with the sport as the owner of Bliss, Allmarimba and Co.

Tresham must have trained on quite all right since he has been at for he is among the acceptors in the Steward's Handicap, to be-run at Masterton next week.

Lipsol is getting through useful work at Porangahau under the direction of S. Marshall. He is being prepared for the open events in connection with the •utumn venture of the Waipukurau Jockey Club.

Whenuanui's next appearance is to be at Ellerslie, and, like Civility, he claims engagements in the Easter and Open Sprint Handicaps. The Acre gelding, if he can handle the right-hand going, should do well at Ellerslie.

Pentegram gave a fine display of elean jumping when schooled over the steeplechase fences on the flat at Eller•lie recently. He is in great heart just now, and should be capable of performing well in forthcoming engagements.

Salamander has been put out of work for the present, he is to be added to the list, and will do his racing in future as a gelding. Salamander has furnished into a nice looking horse, and there is still time for him to make amends for past failures.

Modest Boy has not been noticed doing any fast work since he raced last, but he appears to be doing well, and is among the nominations for the Nelson Handicap at the Auckland Easter meeting. He won twice, and ran second on another occasion in his last four starts.

Passionate has been having an easy time since racing around the last few country meetings. This horse has been a good stake winner for J. Anderton in the past, and as he usually runs his best races under welter weights, and is partial to soft tracks, the time is approaching when he will hare conditions to suit Imp.

RoyaV Divorce continues to gallop 'well at Trentham, and if present intentions are adhered to he will be sent to Auckland at Easter time. The two-year-old, Wild Pigeon, will be his mate Wherever he goes. This youngster sticks on well, and should win a six-furlong two-year-old handicap before the close of the season.

Brampton will not make the trip to Ellerslie along with the other members of Mr. Lowry's team, as it is intended that the son of Lord Quex and Symbolism will be amongst the runners in the Oringi Handicap at Waipukurau on Easter Monday. Brampton is a halfbrother to that speedy gelding, KilliEhandra, now in Australia.

Mr. G. F. Moore will be represented at Ellerslie this month by Reremoana, Cavendish, Lady Bentinck, and Helen, so it looks as if he is sure to P l *«P a race or two in the north (says a Wangamii writer). Reremoana, good *?£ a " th at he is, will be faced with a ftf, tas k in the Easter Handicap, £ J?® , h *? dlca PP2r> no doubt, will bear on i . 1S success in m * event with won Z» ?, ear ' also the fact tha * «* pounds e Tess! y '* With three

he will not have such a big team as on previous occas.ons (says °a southed writer). Present intentions are that Covent Garden, Damaris, Thaw, and The Thorn will go north. The two firstmentioned will contest the Great Nor them Champagne Stakes, Thaw the juvenile handicaps, and The Thorn the Easter Handicap. Lysander is enjoyino a well-earned respite from racing, and it is not. expected that he will be seen out until next spring. It is more than likely that he will be restricted to sprint handicaps, weight-for-age events, and special races up to a mile. The colt should turn out a top-notch sprinter next season. Thaw is growing very fast, and this probably accounts for his recent failures. Like many of Limond's stock, he looks like doing better as a wee-year-old. The gelding has the i £S^%^ far frora ta the

Lysander and Mask are to be spelled till next season.

Young Lochinvar has been galloping in good style in his work at Riccarton, and another win may toe credited to him very soon.

It was reported from the south that Count Cavour would be shipped from Wellington to Sydney yesterday, by the Marama.

E. -T. Mason's two-year-olds Agrion and Shalimar are reported to be working well at Eieearton, and are said to bear a very bright appearance.

Degage is again in easy work at Trentham, and in all probability will be accorded a nomination at the autumn meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club.

The Danenr.t has not been asked to do a great deal of work since arriving at Ellerslie, but he is looking nice and big in condition, and should be greatly improved with racing.

C. Morse will probably bring King Willonyx and Garzon to Auckland. It is stated that this trainer will probably take up his residence in this district.

Eeremoana, Eoyal Divorce, Grand Knight, and Star Stranger have been allowed to drop out of the Easter and Autumn Handicaps at the Canterbury Jockey Club's autumn meeting.

Mr. W. Scholium lias claimed the name of White Wings, for tho rising two-year-old filly by Limond, from Waterwings, which he bought at the Trentham sales in January last for 723 guineas.

Blue Spear is on tie improve and he has built up a good deal during the last month or two. He has grown a lot since he was first put into work, and his trainer, J. Lambess, has not hurried his preparation.

Eeports from Wingatui state that Comic Song has been responsible for some smart gallops, and he is standing up to his work well. Provided he remains sound, he will have to be reckoned with in the Great Easter Handicap.

King Merv, who was sent to the Waikato some time ago to be spelled, is .among the Avondale nominations, and has also been paid up for in the All Aged Stakes. Apparently the Quin Abbey gelding has benefited by the change.

Deluge has been sold by Mr. G. M. Currie, and has gone in H. Lorrigan'a Stable at Trentham. He has been nominated at the Feilding and Wairarapa meetings, and will probably make his first appearance in his new owner's colours at the latter fixture.

It is stated that Alloway may come to Ellerslie for the autumn meeting, and he is being worked the reverse way at Wanganui. Alloway ran third in the Great Northern Derby to Commendation and Lysander, and if brought North should go very near collecting a stake.

Footfall is said to bear an improved appearance, and the hard racing he has had this season seems to have agreed with him. His stable mate, Paperchase, is also in good order. These two may add to their record before the end of the season.

It was reported from Sydney last week that the imported mare Calcite, one of F. D. Jones' team, had gone amiss. Evidently the trouble is more serious than at first anticipated, for Calcite has been scratched for all engagements at the A.J.C. autumn meeting.

Lomint went well over a round of the course proper on Thursday morning! The time recorded was very , fair, and J. Thorpe has her in good condition at present. Lomint has always run her best races when the tracks were soft, and with the winter season coming along, she should again race to advantage.

Allan McDonald, one of whose knee caps was broken when Peneus made the mistake with him at Napier Park, had the pieces wired together a week ago. The doctor expects that McDonald will ultimately have the full use of the knee again. It is satisfactory to know that he is doing as well as can be expected.

Amongst the acceptors for the Eiffelton Hack Handicap at Ashburton today is Hoy lake. Hoy lake is a grey colt tored in England in 1924 by Poltava from Loch Ahoy. He is trained by R. Emerson, and has had one start in New Zealand, running unplaced in a hack event at the C.J.C. midsummer meeting last month. He is owned by Dr. M. G. Louisson, who has Assurance in the same stable.

There, was.not a great Jot of fast work at Ellerslie this morning, owing to most of the horses being away at Whangarei. The No. 1 grass, track was in use, and the going was excellent. Clarus ran six furlongs, taking 1.26 2-5. Nevrbury and Corinax took 1.7 3-5 to cover five furlongs. Wonder Star and the Kakama filly were on terms over a similar journey in 1.6 2-5. Archibald went nicely over a round, which he completed in 1.57 2-5. Nucleus ran six furlongs in 1.26, and Arihana sprinted a furlong less in 1.6 2-5. Whakarite, with a light boy up, was in front of Standfast, with Carinthia further back,* over five furlongs, which occupied 1.5 1-5. Cawnpore and Town "Guard were practically on terms at the end of six furlongs run in 1.19, Judge's Box and Master Mind running over the same distance in 1.23, both going well.

An American publication, ''Collyer's Eye," has the following:—"One of the biggest killings of the season -was successfully engineered when The Mask won a maiden race at Tiajuana, paying better than 23 to 1 in the mutuels. And that isn't all.
