PROPOSAL DEFEATED BY TWO VOTES. COUNTING FINISHED TO-DAY. The Newmarket loan poll, which covered a proposal to borrow £4.»00 to provide fire-fighting appliances in the borough, was lost by two votes. The poll resulted: For the proposal 307 Against 3ft 9 Informal 9 Counting was finished at 1.30 this afternoon.
