SAYS THE CHIEF JUSTICE. HEAVY SENTENCES IMPOSED. (By Telejrraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Several prisoners were sentenced by the Chief Justice in the Supreme Court to-day. Leonard Reginald Brown and John Ernest Hoskins had been found guilty of breaking and entering and theft (a number of charges), the first-named. 1 was sentenced to three years in the Borstal and the latter probation for the same period, and to remain in the employ of his father, and make restitution of fl 19/6, and pay costs £3 0/8. Mr. Justice Skerrett said breaking and entering was becoming too common in this country. Albert Laurence and Joseph Windsor, three brothers, were found guilty of breaking and entering and theft. " The last two were sentenced to five years' hard labour, and the first to four years. Albert Vivian Love, on a similar charge, was ordered two years in the Borstal. William Edward Ro'sbel Ebert, theft (two charges), and breaking and entering, was ordered six months reformative. Leonard Llewellyn Grant, theft of a cash box containing over £500. twelve months' hard labour. Robert Billinson Simpson, theft, forgery and uttering, two years in the Borstal. Cyril Leonard Dawe, theft while a Government clerk, twelve months' probation, and ordered to make restitution and pay £11/ costs. Luis George Findlay Lundquist. indecent assault, two years' hard labour.
