HIRED CAR SMASHED.
OWNER A HEAVY LOSER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. The six-cylinder Oakland car owned by Mr. F. Anderson, of Whangarei, which was very badly damaged on the Whangarei-Dargaville Road last Saturday, was not covered by insurance, as previously reported, so that the owner's loss will be heavy. The car had been hired to a party of four visiting yachtsmen, who on returning from a visit to Dargaville managed to go over a bank, with disastrous results to the machine but only minor injuries to themselves.
